There are many idioms from sport used in business, particularly when talking about competition. Here's some of them.. :)
1. a level playing field = a fair situation
2. in the driving seat = to be in control
3. flogging a dead horse = to waste time trying to do something that will not succeed..
4. move the goalposts = to change the rules in a situation in a way that is not fair, usually in order to make it more difficult for someone to achieve something..
5. ahead of the game = being early, having an advantage in a competitive situation, having done more than necessary.
6. a one horse race = a race or competition which only one of competitors has a real chance of winning.
7. to be neck and neck = an accident waiting to happen.
8. keep your eye on the ball = to give your attention to what you are doing all the time.
